On Line Magic!
For your amusement we proudly present quirky and unusual magic (plus cool optical effects) that you can personally enjoy, right here and right now!
3D Hawaii
One time when I was in Hawaii (on the island of Kauai), I took a tour of the Na Pali Coast. I didn't realize it at the tme, but as a result from taking two pictures a few moments apart, I accidentally created a stereogram. In other words, if you cross your eyes while looking at the two photos simultaneously you can line up the images and create a 3D effect! WOW! No glasses needed!
Warning: Don't Cross Your Eyes Too Long!

Who Has The Angrier Face?
This is a weird one. I don't know the full history, but using my skills in mentalism, I believe ophthalmologists from the University of Glasgow (Philippe G. Schyns and Aude Oliva) created this effect.
Which of the two faces below is angrier?
Some say the one on the RIGHT is an angry man. They say he is snarling and showing his teeth! Others say the one on the left is the angry, snarling man. What do you see? Now, get up and step away from the monitor and see what happens at 10 or 12 feet away.
Which direction does this woman spin? Clockwise or Counterclockwise?
Some say the direction she spins determines what part of the brain you are using (left side or right side) and the direction indicates if you are prone to be more logic minded or creative oriented.
Still, there are others who say you are some kind of genius if you can get her to swing or sway back and forth.
Here's how to be a genius. Slowly read this paragraph and watch her out of the corner of your eye. Or just study her feet and you can make her change directions.
How does this work? It's magic!
A Sample of Mental Magic:
Pick any word in either the first, or second line of the paragraph below (i.e. any purple colored word). Count the number of letters in your chosen word and count ahead that number of words. So, if you picked the first word, "My" you would count two words ahead (in this case, "is"). Continue this exercise, (counting the letters in the word you land on and moving ahead that number of words again and again), until you reach the last line of the paragraph. When you get to the last line, stop on the very first word your count ends on. I predict it will always be here. (Note: depending on your screen settings the numbers above the words may not line up.)
2 4 2 4 7 1 2 1 8 3 4 2 3 5 1 2 1
My name is Doug Sparkes. I am a magician, but more to the point, I am a
6 8 2 4 2 5 6 1 9 9 2 1
mental magician, or what is often called a "Mentalist". Mentalism is a
11 4 2 5 4 7 2 6 3 9 8 2
specialized form of magic that focuses on powers and illusions relating to
3 4 2 1 7 7 1 3 7 4 3 4 5 4 5
the mind. In a perfect setting I can predict what you will think with great
8 2 5 5 1 3 2 4 2 5 1 8 7 5
accuracy. In other cases, I may be able to "force" a specific outcome based
2 4 11 4 9 2 2 7 2 2 7 2
on your co-operation. This paragraph is an example of my attempt to
5 1 8 7 4 3 4 2 2 2 5 1 4 3 2 4
force a specific outcome. With any luck, (or is it skill?) I will try to make
you land right HERE!
More Visual Magic
Pick a number from 10 to 99. Now, add the two digits together (so, if you picked 10 you would add 1+0). Next, and this is the tricky part, subtract your new number from the one you first picked (in this case 10 minus 1). Your new total is your random number. Now quickly find your number on the grid below. Study the picture next to it ... Really study it ... Next, I want you to click HERE and look into the eye of my business card.
